A 31-year-old Clinton Township man was convicted Thursday in Macomb County Circuit Court of murdering his estranged wife while she was calling 911 on Oct. 19, 2023.
Steven Bryce Wheeler was convicted of murdering his wife Jordan Wheeler, 33, by a jury that deliberated for about five hours over two days, the Macomb Daily reports.
A drunken, Steven Wheeler, who was angry and swearing, grabbed Jordan, who then called 911. He then shot her five times at their home near 15 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue. She had moved out but had come to pick up their two sons, who called their mother saying their father was being mean to them, the Macomb Daily reports.
Jordan had filed for divorce three months before the shooting.
